FOLLOWING the multiple death and injuries sustained in a cult clash between two rival groups in Agbarho community, peace has began to crop in after an accord was signed by leaders of both confraternity in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
It was learned that the peace agreement was facilitated by leaders of the community that called on both cult groups to stop the killing and destruction of properties.
It would be recalled that, two rival cult groups, Eiye and Maphite had been in a battle over a phone charger.
“One of the cult member lend his iPhone charger to his rival and in the process of retrieving it back, trouble ensued between two of them which later escalated to multiple killings and injuries in the community.
The crisis led to the death of a 45 years old father of five, a father of three,and other killing at different locations that lasted for nearly over a month.
In a peace agreement document sighted by the Pointer, it was addressed to the President general of Agbarho kingdom.
According to the document that was addressed to the president general Agbarho Urhobo Improvement Union, Agbarho Delta State, both groups agreed to give peace a chance and if any further killing is recorded, they should be held accountable.
“Dear Sir, The above name confraternity agreed on peace accord settlement betwen the both parties, From now henceforth we promise to end any further chaos or violent and if found with in these members they are guilty of such act and any rough action will be taken against him or her.
“We hereby take this undertaking that the security and the community should hold or any of our members responsible for an action”
A source from the community that confirmed the incident said, “Eiye and Maphite in Agbarho have signed a peace agreement with representatives from both sides and a witness present. While this is a positive step, we urge everyone to stay vigilant until lasting peace is achieved.”
